San Francisco Skyline over Oakland

Windy and cloudy today but the rest of the week is supposed to be mild and clear :) smashed in this sweeping vista of the San Francisco Bay overlooking Oakland. It's acrylic and my favorite limited palette, I intend to take this back for a pass with full spectrum palette of oil colors

Alex Schaefer at the 2019 Sonoma Plein Air Invitational

Cool! I got a really nice placement on the artist page for the 2019 Sonoma Plein Air Paint-Out http://www.sonomapleinair.com/2019-artists.html . I'm going BIG then I'm going home! ahahahaha. Of course "big" is relative and in the contemporary plein air crowd, anything over 12 by 16 is considered large so my 16 x 20's and 15 x 30's and 18 x 28s are gonna stand out? maybe? I'm looking forward to it and meeting my host family and other artists participating! 2019 Sonoma Plein Air Invitational

Still Life

I don't paint a lot of still life per se. almost never really! But darn it I always enjoy it when I do get around to it. oil on canvas 12 by 16

Alex Schaefer in Architectural Review

I got a couple copies of the September 2019 issue of Architectural  Review magazine. Keeping these for the scrapbook, pretty cool media flex! We need new ideas about “the economy” and it’s purpose in the world...

Virtual Location Scouting

I've been doing google earth flyovers of the Bay Area scouting spots for the 2019 Sonoma Plein Air Invitational. How weird and simultaneously amazing!
