drawing on the iPad

I've been trying our drawing on a new iPad I got. I searched what program David Hockney uses and found out it's Brushes. I downloaded it since I figure if it's good enough for Hockney it's good enough for me. With my understanding of photoshop, I was able to comprehend the program in about 5 minutes. It's super easy and fun! I've got the tools set up so it's just like drawing in my sketchbook. Here's a couple drawings, Tooks playing at the Hive, and Chelsea Royal playing at a 'League of Nations' party

"Hookers" group show at Corey Helford gallery

This is an amazing group show I'm in at the Corey Helford Gallery, titled "Hookers" opening March 31st at 7pm, 8522 Washington Blvd, Culver City 90232. It is curated by the unstoppable talent Natalia Fabia and she has assembled an incredible list of artists and I'm honored to be a part of it, check out the list of artists on the Corey Helford site. It's the only show I'm in before the BIG SHOW at Charlie James Gallery on April 21st!! I noticed a nice ad in Art News that Corey Helford took out. wow! And the night before, go to what I guarantee will be an AWESOME event at the Dragonfly. Miss Natalia is known for her lavish affairs!

IRRATIONAL EXUBERANCE

"Irrational Exuberance" is the title for my one artist show coming up at the Charlie James Gallery in Chinatown, Los Angeles: www.cjamesgallery.com. The opening reception is April 21st from 6pm to 9pm and the address is 969 Chung King Road, Los Angeles, CA 90012 Tel: 213.687.0844

It's a phrase originally coined by Alan Greenspan in 1996 to describe the mentality or "Animal Spirit" that creates an asset bubble. But I think it's an appropriate double-entendre for the explosive expressionism and content of the paintings in the show.

I'm working away on new pieces but resisting the urge to post them online. It's driving me crazy! ahahahahah! But it will make it more fun for everyone to get to see everything at Charlie's gallery all over the walls and in a way never witnessed or possible until now. It's going to be a great show.

moved in!

Wow I can't believe I did it! After seven years of painting outside under a tent on the dirt in my backyard, I have a real studio! I'm still in the process of finding a place for everything, I may have to pay a visit to some kind of furniture/storage solutions type store, but the studio is working, the stove is hot, the fridge is cold, there's a bed and bathroom! I'm in heaven!

The tour of the Los Angeles Federal Reserve Branch building was fun, if anything to just see what's inside! Everything was confiscated, phones, cameras, wallets, keys, hats, loose change, you couldn't even bring in a piece of paper or pencil; i understand, it's a highly secured location! The most jaw-dropping part was going to the basement to see the cash distribution center. There must be at least half a billion dollars in Federal Reserve Notes and a small army down there, I saw machine guns... The tour felt rushed and even though they promised time for questions at the end, it always ended up that there was no time after all. Everyone got a small bag of shredded paper money and a pen as a parting gift! ahahahahah
