Sunset and Vine is a classic intersection and this building is an iconic example of Millard Sheets architecture; this used to be a Home Savings and Loan. Then it was bought out by Washington Mutual and now Chase. People ask me sometimes why no one seems to notice or do anything about the raging financial flames in my painting. I simply say because we're not doing anything in real life! Are you upset? Are you protesting? oil on canvas 24" by 48"
p.s. for fun here is a photo of the painting after the first lay-in and before the fire and details
p.p.s. this painting is going to be in a show at Cerritos College called Architectural Deinforcement, Constructing Disaster and Decay.

Hey Alex, Really love this! Watching this unfold from the start has been eye opening along with your chalk work and arrests ect. I may be one of those who does not protest in the classic way. I made my choice and just do not use any bank for my accounts. It is a pain in the ass and makes things somewhat difficult for me on level yet It was my choice to say I don't agree with what your doing and refuse to be a part of it on that level alone. I just can't run from the riot squads and angry misguided person tossing bottles, Hell I can sometime hardly walk well enough to drag the beer home two blocks back to my lovely shit hole of the SRO HOTEL I live in so we must pick our battles. LOL Anyhow I just wanted to say I support what your doing 200% and find it refreshing and smart on so many levels. And with a sinister grin It makes the value of my AS paint go up and up and up...
Regards and now go chalk something!!!!
Daniel
Alex,
Please don't do your chalk protest and get yourself arrested again! You don't deserve to be in jail! Instead, multiply your efforts in a way that will not subject YOU to arrest.
Produce some artwork that we can use to make small stickers. Then, your supporters can post these little stickers (legally and lawfully, of course) in strategic locations all over America.
Let your supporters do the work, and take the risk. Multiply your efforts!
