CHASE FREEDOM

Here is my impression of the activities of the "primary dealer" banks, i.e. JPMorganChase, Bank of America, ad nauseum, since I can remember. This is the debauchery of undeserved privilege and awarding the unproductive. Jamie Dimon calls this success.

Regarding this painting you can see from the Artillery Magazine article that it's changed, i.e. pentimenti! I got rid of the lettering and raised the beer funnel. But the subtitle is still "Cabernet Beer Bongs"... or maybe Beaujolais! We're mixing up Goya and Sorolla and Vincent. This painting is for sale at cjamesgallery.com oil on canvas, 36 by 36

Pete's Blue Chip

I did a little 10 by 10 inch painting for a show next year, they wanted something small, plein air, and from Eagle Rock, my favorite part of town and the best strip of route 66 left in LA! And square compositions are always their own challenge; and it's interesting to paint this small size because it's easier to abstract "what you see" into "big" blocks of color. oil on linen

my favorite cupcake

I've been painting a lot of cupcakes on the side, I have a commission to paint a bunch and I owe a couple to friends; at some point in the near future I will post a whole slew of these tasties. In the meantime this is my recent favorite painted in artist Stephan Canthal's hand-around sketchbook given to his favorite artists to do something in. What else am I gonna do? a cupcake! ahahahah btw I thought this article was ironic. I went from being a terrorist painting burning banks to a subject matter I thought would never have any homeland security overtones... then I read this! For my real fans, here's this weeks episode of the Alex Schaefer Hour. The usual technical difficulties but there's words spoken for 98% of the show.

BTW blogger has changed and if you want to see the full size of the image, click on it, then control-click the next image loaded and click 'view image' and then click to zoom in. I don't know why they do it like this now, or maybe it's just my computer? But that' what I gotta do now...

back on The Board

It was lovely and overcast all day today, perfect weather for my 'studio'. I felt the desire to put more paint on this big one I'm calling The Board. It's been moving big shapes around to be more accurate but not narrowing in on any "detail" yet. It feels more 'right' but not more realistic. My palette so far is mostly burnt umber and ultramarine with touches of burnt sienna and dioxazine purple and focusing on the desaturated grey range; but with these pigments and the addition of yellow ochre I could paint a most lovely renaissance rainbow! oil on canvas, 48 by 60

the Housing Market

This is a painting started in 2004 and finished in 2011. It's from a series of five, three I finished back then and had them nicely framed. The last two had been stored in the garage all this time until I found them a few weeks ago. As you can see from the photo, I've cut 30% off the painting (much like home prices lately) and restretched the remaining portion, planted a for sale sign, and am finishing it off. I think it needs a gaudy gold frame with the scrap tacked next to it on the wall. oil on canvas, 24 by 30

the Alex Schaefer Hour

CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO THE SHOW online. This week my guest is Robert McLendon, film maker, documentarian, co-director of the Octocorn Network: youtube.com/theoctocornnetwork. Robert came 30 minutes late by mistake, but made up for it with martinis. LA Town Crier Don Garza called in and then showed up live for the show! I popped off a quick mini ten minute portrait of Robert at the very end of the show, oil on canvas panel 7 by 5 inches. The show has it's usual audio problems but hopefully you can suffer through it for a while!

here's a link to the French magazine Courrier International that I mentioned on the show: http://www.courrierinternational.com/article/2011/12/08/enrichissez-vous-denoncez-les-banques

Pulse Miami

I was contacted out of the blue by Charlie James about taking a burning bank painting to the Pulse/Miami show in conjunction with Art Basel Miami. I said YEAH and it turned out great for everyone! The painting, my plein air of the Chase branch in Los Feliz symbolically ablaze, was a big hit and sold at the fair! A serious 'art world' sale to boot! Very exciting. I've gotten a link sent to me regarding press for the show, so the fire is still burning:

the mind of Jamie Dimon

This link makes my jaw drop: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/12/08/jp-morgan-chase-s-jamie-dimon-strikes-back-at-populist-anger.html

I cannot fathom the frame of mind Jamie Dimon must possess regarding the "occupy" movement. He says they're "Acting like everyone who’s been successful is bad and that everyone who is rich is bad — I just don’t get it". That's what he thinks, that's him off the cuff.

Dimon how are you successful? Where are you succeeding for America and the American People? We're not upset at you Jamie because you're "successful", but because you're a criminal gangster terrorist bailout welfare-queen crybaby who thinks that they, an unproductive, do-nothing, create-nothing, paper-shuffling douchebag, are a definition of "successful" in 2011.

Screw you. You should be barred from the financial sector for the rest of your life and tried at the Hague for economic crimes against humanity and for financial terrorism.

Here's some good follow-up reading to understand the mindset of these bankster-criminals, Jamie Dimon = Muammar Gaddafi:

links to news on the economy

One thing I do on facebook that I don't do here is post links to articles and videos that I think are important to read, the good the bad and the ugly.

http://www.oftwominds.com/blogdec11/euro-debt-serfdom12-11.html <--the fantasy of modern economics

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/money_co/2011/11/the-secret-meeting-between-henry-paulson-and-the-hedge-funds.html <-- the definition of crony-capitalism

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-12-09/corzine-s-intent-at-hearing-was-to-head-off-possible-claims-lawyers-say.html <-- banker + gangster = bankster aka finincial terrorist

<--a glimmer of hope for justice

and visit maxkeiser.com often!

I also posted this personal plea to the POTUS after his most recent speech: Nice speech last night President Obama, sounded like a stump speech, like you're running for president. Buddy, we already know, yes that's right, the economy is in the tank, crime is rampant on wall st. And you NOW hold the office that could do the most to stem the tide of economic pillaging and terrorism rampant around the world. We voted you into that office THREE years ago. For THREE years you've had the chance to create policy and issue orders to begin to see justice being served, to actually regulate, to root out cronyism, to prosecute fraud and racketeering... but I've seen nothing. And now, 11 months until the next elections you're talking about all the things that need to be done, soon, and vote for you AGAIN so you can solve all these problems; it's a long term problem that requires long term solutions, 8 years to be exact! Screw that. 11 months is a long damn time, Mr president. Do SOMETHING NOW! You are in office NOW, what are you waiting for? Are you telling me if you get the office again THEN you're REALLY gonna do something? your track record does not lead me to that conclusion.

I feel like I've been posting to facebook more than my blog, so I have a blog backup of sorts. I'm going to change that with this post, a few new still lives. my ever popular "let them eat cake" series...zero calories, high in minerals and fiber, and with the healthful benefits of flax seed oil! each oil on canvas, 7 by 5 inches
